Left is right

The information age which we all are living in is ending thus inchoating the new age. We’ve had Stone age,  Metal age, Agricultural age, Industrial age, Information age (current age). And now the next one is “Conceptual age”. Why creators, empathizers and meaning makers will be defining this new era? Daniel Pink (author of A Whole New Mind) answers these questions in an excellent article published in Wired magazine.

This article titled as “Revenge of the right brain” debates why the current information age (ruled by left brain) has stagnated and the why there is need of new age. The new “Conceptual Age” is ruled by artistry, empathy and emotion. This article can be found here

One thing needs to be considered that Lefties think in Right hemisphere of the brain. While for righties its a vice verca. Even all those who have creative penchant have right hemisphere more active than that of left. It should be noted that author has pointed out very much valid and logical facts. And they all hold true in current “Information Age”.

Time is right for all the lefties who have been considered as “pariah” till now by the righties.

Changin Times!!

I love one legendary song by Bob Dylan, its “The times they are a-changin”.Dylan wrote and composed this masterpiece to give the reflection of changing times. The divide between old and new. The change itself. Its conceived as protest song. I particularly like the lyrics of second and last stanza of the song.

Second Stanza:

“Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won’t come again
And don’t speak too soon
For the wheel’s still in spin
And there’s no tellin’ who
That it’s namin’.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin’”

Last Stanza:

“The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin’.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin’”

Incidentally Steve Jobs had also chosen to recite the same second stanza of poem for revolutionary demo of Macintosh in Jan 1984. This song is so relevant in today’s world. And it will be the same in future too. The reason behind is generation gap. Generation gap is and will be there. It all depends how old guard sheds its conservatism understanding neologism. And new buds learning from old guard’s mistakes. Else the battle lines will never be erased.
